The Possibilities of Our Protein Mapping Project

This year has forced us all to take stock of our lives, all that we have and all that we’ve missed, it is why I can’t help being immensely grateful for our Duchenne community. I’m grateful to this community for so much, but mostly because it has remained strong and steadfast in its pursuit of better treatments and care for our loved ones living with Duchenne. My family’s journey navigating this crazy world has been better because of PPMD and all of you.

And I’m even more grateful that this year a group of community partners have pledged to match all donations up to $200,000 to support a critical project that has the potential to help us find answers that will influence research and care for all ages and stages of Duchenne.

When my son Bazi was diagnosed, I knew that information and data were extremely important, not only for my understanding of the diagnosis but for the researchers and scientists around the world working on various treatment options. Very soon after he was diagnosed, we enrolled Bazi in the most comprehensive natural history study with ImagingDMD at the University of Florida. We wanted to contribute data about Bazi’s disease progression as soon as we were able, knowing that an early baseline is helpful to have.

The data generated through ImagingDMD plays an important role in moving research forward and we felt this was something we could do for a community that had done so much for us. PPMD is now working to take the data from this study, as well as from the Leiden University natural history study, to learn more about how Duchenne progresses. Thanks to PPMD’s Duchenne Protein Mapping Project, unleashing data and mapping proteins will be an important next step in gaining a deeper understanding of Duchenne and its response to different therapies.

I am proud to support PPMD’s commitment of $400,000 to fund the Duchenne Protein Mapping Project, and ask that you consider donating as well.

Members of the Duchenne community Team Joseph, Little Hercules Foundation, Ryan’s Quest and Another Day for Gray, also recognize the critical importance of this work and have pledged $200,000 to match your donations this holiday season. This means our gifts to the Duchenne Protein Mapping Project go twice as far to help unlock critical data insights and unleash the possibilities ahead for our community. Give today and your gift will be doubled!

This is a necessary investment for our family. This project has the potential to provide clearer answers about Duchenne and transform the landscape of clinical trials. Knowing that my gift will be doubled because of the generosity of PPMD’s community partners reinforces that we are strongest when we join together.

Double your donation today to support PPMD’s Duchenne Protein Mapping Project and help us advance understanding of this disease.

Thank you for being part of the PPMD family, which I consider my extended family. Let us continue to take every opportunity to unleash breakthroughs and work together for the day we end Duchenne.

Warmly,

Rasha Alnaibari
PPMD Board Member and Parent

P.S. Your gift to the Duchenne Protein Mapping Project will be doubled — allowing us to unlock answers to essential questions about the progression of Duchenne.
