As we enter PPMD’s fourth decade and a new era in Duchenne research, I am once again in awe of this community’s unwavering determination to push boundaries and drive progress. Your generosity continues to propel our initiatives forward in the fight to end Duchenne.
More individuals living with Duchenne have access to therapies than ever before. Technology is rapidly evolving and patients’ ability to share their data is constantly improving. We will now take the next step to better understand the changing care and treatment paradigm in our current therapeutic landscape by creating the Dystrophinopathy Clinical Research Network (DCRN).
Thanks to you, we will accelerate the pace of research and discovery from decades to years by leveraging cutting-edge adaptive trial designs and incorporating novel data sharing methodologies in order to get more therapies to more people, faster.
Your donations to the DCRN fund new research for a new reality. If you haven’t had the chance to contribute to the development of the DCRN yet, you still can.
A special thank you to Dr. Sam McKenzie, Dr. Larry Markam, Limca Jhaveri, William Ma, and Megan Freed for sharing their stories these past few weeks. They, along with countless other families and healthcare providers, inspire all of us to keep pushing toward a better future for all individuals with Duchenne and Becker.
I am deeply grateful to every donor who has supported us this year, including our three anonymous families who provided matching funds for both Giving Tuesday and our year-end appeal.
As 2025 gets underway, I look ahead to the future with great optimism as we chart a new course forward, but always remember the journey we took to get here.
As always, your support and dedication are the driving force behind our mission. Together, we will continue the fight to end Duchenne.
Best wishes always,
Pat Furlong
