For more than 30 years, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy has stood as a steadfast advocate for patients and families affected by Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy. Our policy priorities are always guided by one principle: the fight to end Duchenne, not allegiance to any political party. In today’s increasingly polarized political landscape, we want to reassure our community that our commitment to advancing our advocacy goals remains unwavering. Should policies be considered that would reduce access to healthcare, such as loosening certain regulation of private insurance or reducing access to Medicaid, we will voice our opposition. Similarly, PPMD will oppose drastic cuts to federal agencies like the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as those agencies are critical to supporting federal research and ensuring access to safe and effective medications.
