On March 23, PPMD’s Founding President & CEO Pat Furlong addressed the Ohio House Finance Subcommittee on Health and Human Services in support of legislation that would add Duchenne to the Ohio Newborn Screening Panel. We would also like to thank patient advocates, Kelly Maynard and Jason Dempsey for providing amazing testimonies to the subcommittee!

PPMD remains committed to newborn screening and equitable early diagnosis for all children with Duchenne, and we would like to thank the Ohio House Finance Subcommittee on Health and Human Services for hosting this important hearing. We are grateful to the committee for giving members of our community a chance to speak about the importance of adding Duchenne to Ohio’s Newborn Screening Panel in order to change the lives of families and improve both the quality of life and the life span of individuals diagnosed.
