In our ongoing effort to ensure that you and your family are prepared in any situation, PPMD is excited to announce the release of new large emergency cards — perfect for attaching to wheelchairs, scooters, and backpacks!
Order Your Card >This idea was adapted from cards created by the Children’s Mercy Hospital team as a result of their awarded PPMD Liaison Grant. This grant program supported the Certified Duchenne Care Center (CDCC) Program to provide resources to improve patient care in 2016 and 2017. We want to commend Children’s Mercy for their work, and are thrilled to distribute these to the community.
Since people living with Duchenne who use a wheelchair will always have their wheelchair with them (even in emergency situations), the community felt that emergency cards that could attach to wheelchairs would be a wonderful resource. These new emergency cards are larger in size, weatherproof, and include a chain for easy attachment to wheelchairs or other mobility devices, and even backpacks. The cards are two-sided; one side emphasizes important information for families and emergency contact information, and the other side is directed towards healthcare professionals/first responders taking care of your or your child. The cards are available with the family information in both English and Spanish. Our goal is to make sure you or your child receive the best and safest care in any medical emergency, and hope these cards can be a quick resource in any unexpected situation.
