My son Logan is 10 years old. He is sharp, bright and curious, and it’s amazing to me to watch his brain at work. He has never once let Duchenne slow him down mentally, however I can’t say the same for his muscles. This year has brought with it a lot of change and some more significant challenges. Despite the physical limitations, Logan keeps moving forward to learn with as much fervor as he ever has.
As a mother, it hurts my heart to know that his body may not be able to support the many adventures his mind has in store for the future. The heart is at the center of everything and is the most important muscle. We must protect the heart in order to prolong Logan’s life and the lives of other individuals with Duchenne and Becker.
Heart failure in Duchenne and Becker doesn’t have to be inevitable. PPMD’s work to support the Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network (ACTION), a learning health system focused on children and adult heart disease patients at risk of heart dysfunction or with heart failure, prioritizes cardiac care and research for individuals with Duchenne and Becker.
Your generosity will fund ACTION’s goal to optimize care and improve outcomes for those living with Duchenne-related cardiomyopathy. Your gifts will also support ACTION’s critical efforts to create the largest multicenter database on Duchenne cardiac care practices and outcomes to date.
My favorite thing about Logan’s heart is that it helps him stay alive. A stronger heart will enable him to love longer, dream really big and know that there is a future ahead waiting for him.
Double your gift today and help hearts like Logan’s grow stronger with every beat.
THANK YOU!
All the best,
