Donate to PPMD today, make tomorrow stronger

Thank you to everyone who donated to PPMD on #GivingTuesday! Your generosity and a matching gift from my dear friends, Mary-Lou & Larry Weisman, enabled PPMD to begin the holiday season strong. We hope you will help us continue to build momentum through the end of the year!

There’s another, longer to-do list facing us in 2020 – a list we can’t complete without your help this holiday season. That’s why we are asking you to donate today.

Ending Duchenne will take investing in promising research and our unified, amplified voice in Washington, D.C. It will also take increasing and improving access to quality care. Care is at the center of our day-to-day lives, and all of PPMD’s programs and initiatives come back to improving and providing access to care, and ensuring that individuals with Duchenne are living longer, stronger lives. We believe that our expansive, integrated approach to Duchenne – examining the disease from every angle, identifying gaps in care, and investing in innovative treatments – is the only way we will end Duchenne. Help PPMD raise $400,000 this holiday season. Your support will propel our community forward for a stronger tomorrow.

Twenty-five years ago, a Duchenne diagnosis meant just that – a diagnosis. No standards of care, no next steps, and no trials or paths to consider. This was in part because there was very little knowledge amongst clinicians, drug developers, and regulators. Then a group of parents and grandparents came together, unwilling to accept that there was no hope for this diagnosis, and Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy was born.

Our ambitious, multi-pronged approach to leading the fight to end Duchenne is possible because of YOU. This year alone, PPMD has invested more than $3.7 million in research grants and projects. We’ve explored a platform trial design to minimize the use of placebos in the clinical trial process, certified five care centers (including our first adult center) bringing our prestigious list of clinics to 28, and updated The Duchenne Registry with an app-based technology that empowers patients and families to be citizen scientists from the palms of their hands.

Your generosity has gotten us this far – a pipeline full of promising research, standardized care and certified clinics, the respect of leaders in Washington, D.C., and an ever-evolving access landscape. PPMD has the vision, passion, and ability to convene experts across the landscape of Duchenne with caring for you at the center of our mission.

Over the coming weeks, you will meet families who are making today better and believe in PPMD’s mission and vision for a stronger tomorrow. Since they were first diagnosed, they have sought support from us and have become a part of our extended PPMD family. You will also hear from leading experts who believe in our innovative approach to ending Duchenne and who understand the critical importance of PPMD’s focus on care and how it enhances our investment in research.

Your support has always been essential in the fight to end Duchenne, and never has your gift been more important. Please donate to PPMD. Your gift today will help ensure a stronger tomorrow.

Warmly,

Pat Furlong
Founding President & CEO
