Relive the Magic from the Disney Marathon Weekend

Four days of races, 48.6 miles, over $400,000 raised…plus new friends made and countless memories created – it was an amazing Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend for our entire Race to End Duchenne team!

From our first time marathoners to our 15+ year veterans, families gathered at the most magical place on Earth with one shared mission – to end Duchenne. Thank you to each and every one of our 130 runners and 10 Spirit Runners for making this weekend so special for our community. And thank you to everyone who showed their support for our runners with your donation!

We were also proud to present the first ever Danny Garofalo Make Every Day Count Award to John Killian, following an emotional talk from members of Team Danny, who were running for the first time since Danny’s passing last summer. John was selected because he embodies the spirit of this award – kindness, a commitment to the fight to end Duchenne, and a likeness to Danny’s good natured and welcoming spirit. This award will be given annually at our Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend team celebration dinner to a member of our community that embraces the spirit and joy that Danny created. We look forward to working with Team Danny to select future recipients of this award.

Team Danny and several other returning teams – including Sean’s Dream Team, Team Central Florida, Garrett’s Heroes, Team Michael James, and others – have welcomed and inspired their fellow team members over the years, and were instrumental in surpassing our fundraising goal this year.
