As we enter the New Year, my heart is filled with profound gratitude as I am once again reminded of the immense generosity of our Duchenne community. For the past three decades, you have supported PPMD by fueling our progress in the fight to end Duchenne. When we ask, you respond and together we fight for every future. 

Today, I am thrilled to announce that we have reached our goal to support PPMD’s Gene Therapy Initiative. Your generosity will help us deepen our understanding of the long-term effects of this treatment on the heart, prioritize research for next-generation and future-generation gene therapies and combination therapies, work to ensure pre-existing antibodies are not a barrier to otherwise eligible individuals, and accelerate the path to repeat dosing.

A special thank you to Dr. Lee Sweeney, Buddy Cassidy, Daniel and Lindsey Flessner, Vishva Desai, and my daughter Michelle Furlong, for sharing their stories with us over the past months. They, along with countless other families and healthcare providers, inspire all of us to keep pushing toward a future where Gene Therapy becomes an option for all who will benefit from it.

These last 30 years have brought tremendous progress, but we are not at the finish line yet.
