PPMD is excited to unveil our full agenda for The Power of Us: Caregiver Summit which will take place April 28-30, 2022 in Atlanta, GA!

PPMD’s 2022 Power of Us Summit Series aims to bring together members of our community to discuss topics related to mental health and family relationships, with the goal of developing tools and resources to help us enhance daily life.

This first meeting in our series will focus on parents, grandparents, and primary caregivers. Additional meetings for teens and adults living with Duchenne/Becker, as well as siblings, are planned to follow.

Featuring guided sessions with healthcare experts and mental wellness professionals, as well as first hand narratives from Duchenne caregivers and family members, topics covered in the Caregiver Summit agenda include:

  • Balancing family dynamics
  • Managing roles and expectations
  • Attainable self-care strategies
  • Confronting guilt
  • Identifying anxiety
  • Coping with anticipatory grief
  • Finding our “us”
  • Wellness tools and resources

Registration Deadline: April 6, 2022

There is no cost to register for this meeting. Due to the tailored content we plan to discuss, this meeting is open to parents, grandparents, and primary caregivers, and will be closed to all other family members, including individuals with Duchenne/Becker, as well as children. Childcare will not be provided.

The Power of Us is stronger than any of us alone. Additional mental wellness meetings in this series are also being planned for:

  • Teens and adults with Duchenne/Becker (Scottsdale, AZ; June 2022)
  • Siblings (Pittsburgh, PA; May 2022)
