PPMD’s Power of Us Summit Series: Caregiver registration is now open!

The Power of Us Summit Series — Registration for Parents, Grandparents & Caregivers Is Now Open!

April 28-30, 2022 | Atlanta, GA

The Power of Us is stronger than any of us alone.

Over the past two years we have found ourselves stronger as a family unit in many ways. However, we have also come to realize just how deeply every family member is affected by a Duchenne diagnosis.

This year, PPMD is introducing The Power of Us Summit Series, a series of mental wellness retreats bringing together members of our community to discuss topics related to mental health and family relationships, with the goal of developing tools and resources to help us enhance daily life.

The first meeting in our series will focus on parents, grandparents, and primary caregivers and will take place April 28-30 in Atlanta, GA. Additional Power of Us Summit Series mental wellness meetings are also being planned for:

  • Teens and adults with Duchenne/Becker (Scottsdale, AZ; June 2022)
  • Siblings (Pittsburgh, PA; May 2022)

More information for these two meetings will be available soon!

THE CAREGIVER SUMMIT

Registration is now open for PPMD’s 2022 Power of Us: Caregiver Summit for parents, grandparents, and primary caregivers which will take place April 28-30 at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, GA.

Our agenda will feature guided sessions with healthcare experts and mental wellness professionals, as well as first hand narratives from Duchenne caregivers and family members. Our speakers will lead us through open discussions around family dynamics, communication, and other topics related to prioritizing mental wellness in the day-to-day lives of you and your family.

Topics for the Caregiver Summit will include:

  • Balancing family dynamics
  • Managing roles and expectations
  • Attainable self-care strategies
  • Confronting guilt
  • Identifying anxiety
  • Coping with anticipatory grief
  • Finding our “us”
  • Wellness tools and resources

There is no cost to register for this meeting. Due to the tailored content we plan to discuss, this meeting is open to parents, grandparents, and primary caregivers, and will be closed to all other family members, including individuals with Duchenne/Becker, as well as children. Childcare will not be provided.
