Accessibility & Recreation

  • Cadillac Mountain, Bar Harbor Maine
    Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, at 1,530 feet (466 meters), is the highest point along the North Atlantic seaboard and the first place to view sunrise in the United States from October 7 through March 6
    A short trail is wheelchair accessible for views of Frenchman Bay and the Porcupine Islands. The seasonal Summit Center has a wheelchair accessible entrance, parking, and restrooms.

    MaineCare provides health insurance to children under age 19 and parents living with children under age 19 who meet eligibility based on family size and income (Assets are considered for parent coverage).

    Children under age 18 with a disability that meets the Social Security Administration definition, require Nursing Facility Level of Care criteria and meet income and asset requirements (Family income is “waived” or not considered) may qualify for MaineCare health insurance.

  • Consumer Directed Physical Disabilities Services
    The OADS Physical Disability Services offers three consumer-directed programs designed to support adults with physical disabilities. These programs are offered state wide and are designed to maximize independence to support people to remain in their homes.  Services include attendant care and personal assistance.  Eligibility is based on medical and financial guidelines.
