Record-Breaking 16th Annual Sam’s Night Raises Over $760,000 for PPMD

After the Killian family set the bar high in 2020 with over $532,000 raised at their annual Sam’s Night event, they managed to top that at this year’s event.  The 16th annual Sam’s Night has brought in more than $760,000 so far – more than any event in PPMD’s history!

Family, friends and colleagues of the Killians, along with members of the Duchenne community, got together at a beautiful rooftop event space in Dallas, TX last week for a night full of fun, food, cocktails and good company while raising funds to help end Duchenne. Guests bid on amazing auction items including courtside seats to the Dallas Mavericks, tickets to Hamilton, rounds of golf at Sherwood Country Club in LA, and fabulous getaways to destinations like Turks & Caicos and Santa Rosa Beach.

Sam’s Night (formerly Sam’s Family Fun Day) was started by the Killian family after their son Sam was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in 2005.

“When we held our first Sam’s Family Fun Day, it was to build some awareness in our community about Duchenne and raise funds to support PPMD’s research initiatives,” said Sam’s dad, John Killian. “We had no idea the extent to which our family, friends and the community would embrace this event and what we were trying to do, and it’s because of their support that we’ve been able to do this for 16 years. We’re so grateful for them, and for the volunteers who give so many hours of their time to make this event a success, especially Stacey Magee and Jennifer Bowlby, without whom this event would not happen.”

Thank you to the incredible sponsors of Sam’s Night, many of whom have supported the event for years. Sponsors include Clarion Partners, CBRE, Chicago Title, Colliers, Cushman Wakefield, Ernst & Young, JLL, MRP Industrial, Newmark & Company, PGIM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Stream Realty, Trammell Crow Company, Vinson & Elkins, and Wells Fargo.

On behalf of our entire community, PPMD thanks the Killian family and the event committee, especially Stacey Magee and Jennifer Bowlby, for their unwavering support and for always going above and beyond in the fight to end Duchenne!
